Start with Botulinum Toxins & Dermal Fillers Level I. It’s AAFE’s foundational course — built for nurses and other medical professionals with no prior injectable experience, combining didactic instruction with live-patient hands-on sessions. Every advanced course builds on what you learn here, so it’s the natural entry point.

Once you’ve got Level I under your belt, you can expand into Level II, Master Lips, Master Eyes, or bundle multiple courses through AAFE’s All Access Training Packages

They’re separate things from separate organizations. AAFE’s courses teach the clinical skills to perform injections — anatomy, dosing, technique, live-patient practice — and completion earns you a certificate and CE/CME credit. No prior experience required.

CANS (Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist) is an independent national credential administered by the Plastic Surgical Nursing Certification Board (PSNCB), not by AAFE. To qualify, you need an active RN/APRN license, 1,000+ practice hours and 2+ years of experience in a core specialty (plastic/aesthetic surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, or facial plastic surgery), physician sponsorship, and a passing score on PSNCB’s national exam. It’s valid for 3 years.

In short: injectable training teaches you how to inject. CANS certifies you already have significant real-world experience and passed a national exam — a career milestone built on top of training, not a replacement for it.
